Unlike flat, mass-produced machine plastic nails, handcrafted press-on nails are sculpted with an authentic salon C-curve. Getting your exact millimeter measurements ensures a natural, flush fit that won't pinch your sidewalls or pop off prematurely.
Measuring your natural nail beds takes about two minutes using three simple items: clear scotch tape, a fine-tip pen, and a millimeter (mm) ruler.
The 2-Minute Tape & Ruler Measurement Method
- Place tape across the widest point: Press a piece of clear scotch tape horizontally across the widest part of your natural nail bed, smoothing it right into the side creases.
- Mark both sidewalls: Use a fine-tip pen to draw a clear line on both sides where your nail plate meets your skin.
- Measure the distance in millimeters: Peel off the tape, press it flat against a hard surface, and measure the millimeter distance between the two marks with your ruler.
- Repeat for all 10 fingers: Record your measurements for thumb, index, middle, ring, and pinky on both hands.

Sizing Pro-Tips from Our Studio
- Between sizes? Size up: If your measurement falls in between two sizes (e.g. 11.5 mm), always choose the larger size. You can easily file down the side edge with a mini file for a seamless custom fit.
- Dominant hand is often slightly larger: It is completely normal for your dominant hand to be 0.5–1 mm wider. Always size to fit comfortably without pressure.
- Curvature check: When placing the press-on over your natural nail, it should rest comfortably from sidewall to sidewall without having to be pressed flat with force.
